The Gulf War and the Rapture of the Church

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

The notion of a secret rapture as good strategy has its counter part in modern warfare. Take the Gulf War. Before the event Saddam Hussein had no idea how the world would respond to his invasion of Kuwait. After the attack he found out and was forced to watch and wait while the world gathered its forces for a counter attack. He didn't know how much force they would be gathering so he couldn't predict the day or hour of the attack, but he knew it was coming, and right into his kingdom. Every soldier who disembarked from the troop ships could be the last one. By the time our tanks rolled across the border the Republican Guard was so spooked they almost gave up with out a fight.

Before the event Satan had no way of knowing what the full extent of God's response to the cross would be. (read I Will Make Myself Like the Most High)A few years later God had Paul reveal it to His church omitting only the timing. Now Satan is forced to watch and wait while the full number of Gentiles come into the church. He doesn't know what that number will be, so he can't predict the day or hour of the rapture but he knows it's coming and right into the heart of his kingdom (the air). Every seeker who comes to faith could be the last one, and when the rapture finally comes, I can imagine him being just as spooked in his own way as the Iraqi army was in theirs. Serves him right.
