Q. We hear a lot about a village without walls and we expect to see a dis-arming of Yisrael before everything gets going. But what if: the village without walls is attained thru deception and pressure and Yisrael leaves itself totally open to attack by bowing to the pressure to pacified the Edomites?
A. The Hebrew words that are translated "dwell safely" in Ezekiel 38:8 imply a state of mind rather than an established fact. Other ways in which the word for safely is translated include "carelessly" and "boldly". So I think it's quite likely that Israel's assumed state of safety will be more of a perception based on the promises of their neighbors than anything else.
