The Anointing

I heard a sermon about God’s blessings and successfulness in the earthly life of a believer. The preacher said that evil spiritual beings and forces are more a blocking factor of God’s blessings to a believer than earthly circumstances.

Q. I heard a sermon about God’s blessings and successfulness in the earthly life of a believer. The preacher said that evil spiritual beings and forces are more a blocking factor of God’s blessings to a believer than earthly circumstances.

He said most times trying to live a life to please God and efforts avoiding sin (aka being in fellowship with the Lord) although essential, isn’t enough, what is required and crucial against the forces of the enemy, to lead a successful Christian life and partake blessings and all the good things from God, not to mention His helping power in our life, is the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

According to the preacher the greater the anointing the better. He said that Jesus before His baptism with the Holy Spirit “never thought of”confronting evil forces none the less He was pure and Holy, so we have to fill ourselves with the Holy Spirit.

A. There is no Biblical teaching to support this view. When you were born again the Holy Spirit came to dwell within you. Not just part of Him but all of Him. According to Romans 12:1-8 He will assume as large a role in your life as you permit.

2 Cor. 1:21-22 says you have already been anointed by God Himself, set apart for His use. All you have to do now is let Him use you.
